Hi Everyone

We hope that all of you in our East Hills Oztag Community are keeping both safe and well during these difficult times, especially for our members subject to the current lockdown orders.

While we are waiting for the road map back to community sport from the NSW Government, I thought I would take the opportunity to pass on some information regarding our summer competition.

East Hills Oztag is still committed to running both our Junior and Senior Competitions. Starting dates are still to be confirmed and reliant on both NSW Government and Canterbury-Bankstown Council decisions. More information will be available on our website when some of these decisions are made.

Traditionally, our summer comp usually commences Mid- October, however, starting dates may be delayed until early November – with the usual Xmas break and a return to complete the competition in February and March 2022.

All players and teams who register will be required to strictly adhere to our Covid Safety Plan.

We realise the positive impact community sport can have on the individual – supporting and fostering physical, social and mental health; we can’t wait to see you all out there in the near future.

There are things you can do to take care of your mental health and wellbeing:

  • Exercise (within the prevailing COVID regulations)
  • Stay connected and reach out to others
  • Seek support

As a community we can all work together to set ourselves on the road to normality. We encourage everyone to follow the government’s health advice. If you have any concerns or questions please consult with your doctor.

We have had several enquiries around the position on having participants vaccinated to play. As of today’s date the Minister for Sport advised that no decision has been made by the government in this area. They are, as we are, heavily promoting the vaccination program as an avenue to individuals having more freedom.

We will continue to monitor the situation through NSW Heath and the Office of Sport NSW.

In the meantime, please look after yourself and your family and keep in touch with friends – we will get through this.
